Arab countries
The general policy of Islamic Republic of Iran as the greatest and influential country in the Persian Gulf region, is based on structuring friendly relations with Arab states. Developing relations with such countries particularly Persian Gulf littoral states, owning significant share of the world's oil and gas reservoirs such as Iraq, Syria and Oman, is of paramount importance.
For instance, Oman, officially the Sultanate of Oman, the oldest independent state in the Arab world, can provide required arrangements for Iran to access great markets of India, China and even the markets of African countries. Its geopolitical position, friendly political relations with our country, political stability, owning Free Trade Zones and proper and under developing infrastructure including logistic facilities are key features of Oman.
With 39 million population and 1450 km joint border in addition to common religious, cultural and historical shares with Iran, Iraq is considered to be one of the most important target markets for exporting the non-oil products and transferring technical and engineering services of Iran’s petrochemical industry.
Other Arab countries such as Qatar, Kuwait and United Arab Emirates, which have more or less good political and trade relations with Iran, are considered to be main targets for developing the export of petrochemical products and transfer of technical and engineering services.
African countries
Africa is the world’s second-largest continent by land area and the markets of African countries are regarded as having high potentials for exporting Iran’s petrochemical products. Under the road-map drawn up by Iran’s ministry of Petroleum, countries such as South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Algeria has got high priority among the African countries for mutual cooperation with Iran. South Africa with over 59.6 million population, owning great economy and a new-emerging market, had experienced a record joint venture in Iran’s petrochemical industry (9th Polymer Arya Sasol).
